PLEASE NOTE: Your payment date is the date you GENERATED the payment, even though the funds will not be available to the Town until the following day. As long as the payment is initiated within the allowed grace period, AND THE FUNDS CLEAR YOUR ACCOUNT during the normal processing procedures, the payment is considered an "on-time" payment.  The confirmation of payment that you receive is only a notice to indicate that you have made the attempt to make your payment online.  Payment is complete when funds are withdrawn from your account.

Completion of payment is subject to receipt of funds from your financial institution. If funds do not exist in the account (provided by you, the taxpayer) FOR ANY REASON, (INSUFFICIENT FUNDS, INCORRECT ACCOUNT NUMBER/ROUTING NUMBER, etc) it is considered an uncollected payment and therefore subject to all interest and fees in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes. It is the taxpayer's responsibility to verify that all payments initiated have cleared their account. 

If prior taxes are due on an account, funds will be applied to oldest bills first in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes 12-145 and 12-146.


Important Notice On Motor Vehicle Taxes

If you have accessed this site to pay delinquent motor vehicle taxes, please be aware that payments must be made in person with cash or credit card in order to obtain a tax release.  ABSOLUTELY NO RELEASES WILL BE ISSUED UNTIL ALL MOTOR VEHICLE BILLS IN A TAXPAYER'S NAME ARE PAID IN FULL.

 We DO NOT fax or mail DMV tax releases.


TO MAKE AN ADDRESS CHANGE WITH THE TOWN OF WINCHESTER:

To Change your address with the Town of Winchester tax office, please email your name, address and license plate number, (and tax bill list number, if possible) to:taxcollector@townofwinchester.org 

or print out the attached form and provide us with your updated mailing address and mail it to the tax office.  CHANGE OF ADDRESS FORM:


TAX BILLING DUE DATES:

Real Estate -  July 1 and January 1 (Under $100 billed once and due July 1)

Personal Property - July 1 and January 1 (Under $100 billed once and due July 1)

Motor Vehicle -  July 1

Supplemental Motor Vehicle - January 1 (Pro-rated bills for cars registered AFTER October 1)

Water & Sewer - August 1, November 1, February 1 and May 1 (billed quarterly)

Sewer Assessments - April 1  (Highland Lake Residents Only)
