NORMAL TAX OFFICE HOURS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Friday 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
HOLIDAY CLOSINGS ARE POSTED ON TOWN CALENDAR.
TO AVOID LONG LINES, TAXPAYERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO MAIL THEIR PAYMENTS, PAY ONLINE, OR DROP THEIR PAYMENTS IN A SEALED ENVELOPE IN THE DROP BOX LOCATED OUTSIDE THE TAX OFFICE.

TAX COLLECTOR'S CALENDER
January 1 -- Second Installment due as of January 1 on Real Estate and Personal Property taxes. Supplemental Motor Vehicle Taxes due for any vehicle registered between October 2 and July 31. Taxpayers have thirty-day grace period before interest charges become due on tax bill.
February 1 -- Water and Sewer bills due as of February 1. Taxpayers have thirty-day grace period before interest charges become due on tax bill.
March -- In general, this month is spent working on general office work and administrative duties. Payment plans and delinquent accounts are reviewed and lists may be prepared for attorney to begin foreclosure or water shut-off on delinquent accounts.
April 1 -- Annual Sewer Assessment payments are due. (Highland Lake Residents only). Taxpayers have thirty-day grace period before interest charges become due on tax bill.
April -- Real Estate lien notices are mailed in early April for any Real Estate account with outstanding taxes due. Liens are filed on all Real Estate bills that have delinquent taxes due by end of month. Lien fee of $24.00 will be added to each bill.
May 1 -- Water and Sewer tax bills due. Taxpayers have thirty-day grace period before interest charges become due on tax bill.
May 1 -- Sewer Assessments due (Pratt Street Residents only)
June -- Lien notices are mailed to all taxpayers with outstanding taxes due on water & sewer accounts. Liens are filed on all water and sewer accounts that remain unpaid. Lien fee of $24.00 will be added to each outstanding bill.
July 1 -- Real Estate, Personal Property, and Motor Vehicle tax bills are due and payable. Taxpayers have thirty-day grace period before interest charges become due on tax bill.
August 1 -- Water and Sewer tax bills are due. Taxpayers have thirty-day grace period before interest charges become due on tax bill.
September-October -- In addition to the general office duties and administrative work performed on a daily basis at the tax office, this period of time is used to review delinquent accounts, send out delinquent statements, and prepare lists to attorney for both water shut-off and foreclosure action.
November 1 -- Water and Sewer tax bills are due. Taxpayers have thirty-day grace period before interest charges become due on tax bill.
December -- Any taxpayer wishing to pay their tax bills early for credit on their income tax returns should remit payments prior to December 31. Please make note of office hours so you meet the appropriate deadlines.
