In addition to the municipal conveyance tax statement, also file a state conveyance tax return with deed. The state tax rate varies depending on type of property and consideration\; include separate check for this tax to Commissioner of Revenue Services.
Conveyance Tax (Sec.12-494) State - residential property & unimproved land - .005 x considertion. State - residential dwelling over $800,000 - .005 x $800,000. - .01 x amount over $800,000.
State - non-residential except unimproved land - .01 x consideration.
Local - all categories - .0025 x consideration* * Public Act 3-02, which allowed this increase from March 15, 2003 to July 2010, also gives 18 towns the option of increasing their municipal real estate conveyance tax ban an additional quarter point to 0.5%
Real Estate Searches, Copies and Certification: This office does not perform any searches of real estate records. To request a birth certificate by mail please write a letter to include:
Full name at birth - date of birth - Father's full name - Mother's maiden name - Father's Birthplace - Mother's birthplace - Your name at present - your address - request a full size copy or a wallet - include a copy of your drivers license or other picture identification.
If other than the person listed on the birth certificate is requesting a copy please list your relationship to this person - reason for making this request. Requests for Death or Marriage please include individual's name and date of event along with a self-addressed envelope.
To apply for a marriage license a couple must:
1). Apply in the Town or City in which you are to be married. 2). Blood Work no longer required. 3). Provide names of parents (Mother's maiden name) and where they were born. 4). A $30.00 fee is due at the time of application. 5). An additional fee of $20.00 is charged for a certified copy of the marriage license. 6). There is no longer a waiting period, you will walk out of the office with the license in hand.
Dog Licenses: Spayed or Neutered dogs: $ 8.00 Others: $19.00 Lost tags: $.50 Guide Dogs: FREE (Need Proof) Kennel Licenses (for 10 tags) $51.00 (For Show, Sport, or Sale Only) Late Licensing penalty: $1.00 per month
Licenses are for good for 1 year: June 1 through June 1 of each year. Dogs are relicensed during the month of June, proof they have received an updated rabies vaccine is necessary. If you are late relicensing your dog there will be a $1.00 a month additional fee charged.
If your dog has been spayed or neutered a certificate must be provided, such information will be permanently recorded. A new dog can be licensed anytime during the year. Look for a notice about our rabies clinic which is usually offered during April, May or June. Rabies shots are offered at a discounted rate, and are given by the local veterinarian.
Sporting Licenses:
Due to the volume of license being offered by the DEP and all the various price changes we request that if you need any prices please call the clerk's office and request a price list. Thank you
