Emergency Shelter

The Winsted Senior Center is one of the local warming and emergency shelters available for older adults during regular hours or depending on emergency.

AARP Smart Driving Course

Monday, May 7, 11:00am-3:00pm
Monday, November 5, 11:00am-3:00pm

After the completion of the course, participants receive a certificate of completion, which may be used for a discount on auto insurance. Bring a bag lunch to eat during break.

Cost: $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers, registration is required up to one week prior to class. On the day of the class, bring your AARP membership card and check payable to AARP.

Renter’s Rebate Program

Did you pay rent in Winsted in 2017? Are you age 65 or older and receive Social Security benefits? Are you under age 65 and receive Social Security Disability benefits? If your answer is yes and your income is for 2017 was $35,300 or less for a single person or $43,000 or less for a married couple, you may be eligible for a Renters Rebate from the State of Connecticut.

Winsted’s Caring 4R Community

In October 2016, a group of people met to address the growing needs of the Winsted/Winchester community, connect community partners, collaborate to avoid duplication, identify gaps in services and generate ideas to fill those gaps.
