The Town of Winchester Conservation Commission is  sponsoring a community discussion, Black Bears Among Us, on Thursday, March 9th at 7PM.  Guest Speaker includes Paul Rego, a wildlife Biologist, who worked with the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) for 36 years, before retiring in 2022.  Mr. Rego's responsibilities included management of the state's furbearer species which  include 13 species ranging from muskrats and beavers to bobcats and coyotes. As black bears began to recolonize Connecticut in the 1990s, he led the management and research activities on their growing population. His work with bears increased in subsequent years as the species spread across the state. Paul received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin and Master of Science degree in Wildlife Management form the University of Maine.

Please plan to join the Conservation Commission in welcoming Mr. Rego on Thursday, March 9th at 7PM by attending in person at Town Hall, 338 Main Street, in the P. Francis Hicks Room located on the 2nd Floor or remotely via the ZOOM app.
