Water will be shut down on the section of Main Street from Chestnut Street to Elm Street on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 between the hours of 6AM to 3PM.  Winsted Water Works has entered into a construction contract with Ludlow Construction Co., Inc. of Ludlow, Massachusetts to complete a water main project for the following locations:

  • Center Street between Elm Street and Case Avenue;
  • Case Avenue between Main Street (Route 44) and Gay Street;
  • Greenwoods Avenue between Thibault Avenue and Gay Street; and
  • Thibault Avenue between Elm Street and Greenwoods Avenue.

As part of the water main replacement project, the Town will be shutting down the water main intermittently on Wednesday.  This interruption in water service will impact all water usage activities such as hand washing, showering, laundry, and flushing toilets.  In the event of inclement weather, the tie-in may occur on the following day, or when weater conditions are more favorable.

When water is returned to the service, there may be air in the lines and the water could be discolored.  If this occurs, the water should be allowed to run out of the hot and cold water traps in the highest part of the building until the air has excaped and the water has cleared.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to phone John Goncalves with Ludlow Construction Co. at (413) 266-9143 or the Department of Public Works at (860) 379-4101.
