The Department of Public Works is advising residents that the water line replacement work on Holabird Avenue will commence on Thursday, September 29th.  Local travel on Holabird Avenue from North Main Street, near the Holabird Avenue bridge, to the Fire House may be impacted.  One-way alternating traffic may occur during business hours beginning Thursday and lasting through Wednesday, October 5th.

Residents are encouraged to, if at all possible, use alternate routes during the first-shift hours during this time.  Please note that Holabird Avenue will be opened to traffic outside of working hours.

For the water service disruptions:

  • Water on the Northwestern Connecticut Community College campus on Holabird Avenue is expected to likely be out of service Friday, September 30th
  • Water service interruptions are likely for Whiting Street, from Holabird Avenue, extending approximately 500 ft from the Holabird Avenue intersection, on Monday, October 3rd.  Water will be out of service for a portion of the day.
  • On Tuesday, October 4th, occasional disruptions may occur on Whiting Street (including The Mills at Still River Apartments, Whiting Mills and The American Mural Project).  On Tuesday, occasional disruptions may occur at the Holabird Avenue campus of NWCC

As always when doing this type of work, the conditions found when the excavation is made, may change the schedule and sequence of events. If any major changes occur, additional notifications will be announced on the Town's website and social media.

The Department of Public Works appreciates your cooperation during these improvements and efforts to make the water system better and more reliable. Please contact the Water Department with any questions at (860) 379-4101.
