A schedule for the remaining 2017 paving season has been released by the Department of Public Works.
The placement of a wedge and leveling course of pavement is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 6, 2017 for the segment of road on East Wakefield Boulevard, from Carey Avenue to Mountain Road. Following that, the wedging and leveling will occur on the segment of West Wakefield Boulevard, from Vons Lane to Mountain Road. A “Wedge and Level” process involves bringing an irregular surface to a uniform grade and cross section. A leveling course is used when the road surface is so irregular that the surface cannot be corrected with the normal leveling capabilities of a paver.
Other roads where a “Wedge and Level” procedure is expected during 2017 include West Road and Marshall Street.
Laurel Way and a segment of Blue Street (south of Wahnee Road) will undergo the wedge and level process as well as receive a one and one-half (1½”) inch overlay of pavement.
Additionally, DPW anticipates the milling of the keyways to commence on October 31st.
