Join us as we come together to commemorate the lives of those lost to opioid overdose, offer and share support to help those affected by addiction through “Northwest CT Overdose Awareness Day”. This event, serving as a community resource fair and vigil, is scheduled for Thursday, August 31, 2017, beginning at 6:00PM in Coe Park, downtown Torrington.
This free event is open to all members of our community. Attendees can learn about available local resources, offer and share support to help those affected, and hear inspiring music and messages of hope and encouragement from those in recovery.
Educational information booths and refreshments are planned along with representatives on site from the following: Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, McCall Center for Behavioral Health, Greenwoods Counseling, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Home Visiting Family Services, Family Strides, ED Advance, Key Recovery, All About You, Tides of Mind, Western CT MHN, Nurturing Families, and more.
Beginning at 8:00PM, a traditional vigil will begin featuring speakers, music, prayer and meditation as well as a candle lighting ceremony to conclude the evening.
