Town of Winchester Emergency Management Director Steven Williams has announced a drive-up distribution for COVID-19 test kits is planned for Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4PM to 6PM at the former Bank of America parking lot located at the corner of Elm and Center Street.

We encourage that only residents who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19 seek out these tests to help us provide our allotment to residents truly in need. Residents aged 55+ are encouraged to go to the Winsted Senior Center at 80 Holabird Avenue to pick up a test kit, rather than come to this drive-thru event. Supplies will be distributed on a first come first serve basis and are limited in quantity (one per car). We will also be distributing N-95 masks to residents at this event.

Unfortunately, due to continued supply shortages, distribution of test kits is limited to Winchester residents only.  Some form of proof of residency is likely to be required and there will be only one test kit available per automobile.

Please additionally note that COVID-19 Testing Clinics will be held at the Coe Park Civic Center in Torrington.  Hartford HealthCare and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital have scheduled two (2) appointment-only clinics offering COVID-19 testing at Coe Park at 101 Litchfield Street in Torrington and are open to members of the public.  The clinics run from 11:30AM to 6:30PM on the following dates:

  • Friday, January 14, 2022
  • Sunday, January 16, 2022

Please note that appointments are required and that no walk-ins are accepted at this time.  Please click here to pre-register/schedule an appointment.

Please note that access to the distribution site is gained from Center Street with the exit being onto Elm Street.
